My best friend recently bought a 1999 GT with light mods on it. I've know him for 11 years now and we compete at everything and i've been looking for a stang ever since he purchased his. i found a local add in the paper selling a 5.0L LX T-5 trans, F303 cam, MachI hood, 355 rear gear and custom mach paint job. i talked to the guy and he says his son rebulit the engine less then a year ago. has 12,000 miles on it, if even. he's asking 3,300 for it and i have plenty of money to get it. i was just wondering what i should look for when i test drive it this afternoon and if it's a good buy, also if it'll keep up with my friends GT.thanks guys

she rode good, and sounded great. only thing i'm conserned about is the paint. On some parts of the car the black detailing is wearing off.

yeah your right, the paint needs to go. i was thinking blue. but will the guy go down to 2k? he was asking 4,000 originally.

You might be able to talk him down to somewhere between $2,500 and $3,000.

Hop on that one. Though the paint is bad she probably has some get up and go!

thanks for the advise, i'm trying to find a place in town where i can get a good paint job for under a grand. she does get up and go pretty good

show him $2000 cash all in $20 so it looks like a lot lol try that you can all was give him the $3300 if you relly want it

lol.i try and get him down, if he doesn't budge i'll just get it for 3300.it's got some work to be done

when i started the car it kinda stalled and i had to hold the gas for it to warm up. i was guessing thats casue of the cam, is that normal? on another forum i went to some guy was having the same thing happen and eveyone there told him to replace his IAC. should i be conserned or is this normal?

What was the temperature like when you started it?

The cast-iron blocks sometimes need a bit of "Warm-Up" time before they will run right, they've never liked "Cold Starts". As far as the IAC goes, it's a quick change and easy fix.

So, question now is: Did you buy it?

it's a 1990 and i should have it by saturday or sunday i didn't look at the temp when i started it, i'm gonna go see it again tommorrow i'll check that out.
