Hey,
I want to get rid of the rims the idiot before me put on this car (the front rubs, the low pro's get no traction, and they look bad) - i want to get some draglights or similar, but the car is lowered (i dont know how much b/c i didnt do it... is there a way to tell?) i dont know what width the rear tires/rims should be, and the same with the front wheels/tires... this is a daily driver but will see some drag runs... can i run 10in in the back with a 10.5 tire? (no cutting) (and if not, what is the widest i can go?) also about how tall of a rim should i use? 15in? any help is appreciated, i just dont want to buy ones that wont fit right - also are the skinnys too skinny for daily driving? i was thinking 5inch ones? Help me out because I dont know i just know i cant keep these things on it for long... Thanks!
i really need to know... how wide i can go in the rear (wheel and tire size) I want the most traction possible... someone could atleast tell me that much? and how tall of rim most people use? I hate to do this and double post - but it is really important... my appologies for it though. Thanks.
Id guess a 10" rim would be fine you would just have to measure the distance to the inside wall and see if you can get whatever offset they make for the wheels to make sure that it doesnt hit. Ive seen 5.0s with huge wheels in the back so i imagine itd be alright. If you wanted you could even get a smaller wheel in the back that would fit for sure. Then you could run a wider tire and still get the traction. In the new Modified Mustang Mag, a guy has a 5.0 and hes running 18" inch wheels and they appear to look fine. So im sure if you were thinking of stepping up to like 16s or 17s itd probably look really good. Careful on the front, if your going to run a 5" wheel its going to handle like crap, yeah from street light to street light itll be sick but you got to think about corners too if your going to make it a daily driver.
You should probably wait though to hear about a 10" wheel from someone who has actually done it. Id just guess itd be ok if the offset lined up. But i havnt done it.
well i thought a 5 incher in front would be wide enough for it to handle decently well? since alot of skinnys are 3" - if anyone knows let me know? and i dont want too large of rims in the back (hight wise) b/c i want the best traction possible - i figured 15s? and 8.5 or so with a 10 inch tire... or 10 inch with 10inch if it fits... im hoping some 1 knows... thanks tho
