Default update on the lx i bought 1 month ago.

well it now has the bat reloc. kit installed. the interior is completely gutted except for the dash, which will be comming out this week for a new heater core. i took those nasty door visors off. i removed the rear seats and all brackets and rear seat belts.anyone want to buy them? i will be putting in a small speaker enclosure with some 10" subs. the box will roll from the bottom floor area to the hatch area. kinda of hard to describe but it will be tastefull and not riceish at all. i found some fox seats (my d/side was broke)so now i havean extra pass seat.

thanks for reading.
i have new front carpet comming in this week. i will finnish the rear carpet when the box is done. i have taken all the int parts except for the rear sail panels and have washed them with hot soapy water. the gauge bezel cover that was metallic blue is now black. i've rebuilt the arm-rest out of 2 units. i was pleased to see that the unibody showed no signs of tweeking or ever being hit and absolutely no rust. i do however have to have the crossover where the d/seat bolts to repaired. it needs to be re-boxed and welded. no big deal.sounds worse than it is. i only drove this car once since i've had it. its been apart ever since i put the new starter in. the engine sounds real tight. almost like its not broke in yet. its def, been rebuilt. i fixed the header leak. see my gallery for the old pics. i haven't been able to get new pics. i lost my charger for my camera.

ok. now i have a few ?'s. this is a 90 lx 5.0. was this motor forged from the fact? i found out that the pistons were, what about the crank?

it has BBK shorty equal lenght headers on it. is it worth getting them ceramic coated? or should i just get some ceramic long tubes?

jay.

Sounds like fun. You are where I was at 6 months ago. Mine is almost finished. Your motor is forged throughout. I've had long tubes and shorties. I know the long tubes are better performers but if your car is a stick, prepare to burn up clutch cables on a daily driver. For this reason I tend to prefer shorties.

do u think the cables would burn up even if the headers are ceramic coated.
thanks.

Yep, it's just a proximity thing. Long tubes leave amost no room between them and the clutch cable. I've seen people try lots of things to insulate the cables but these measures only last so long, especially if it's a daily driver.

I would have the headers ceramic coated no matter if they were long tubes or shorties. Just makes them last longer and looks better. I put a set of JBA headers on my moms 91 LX Vert and I had the ceramic coated and it looks sweet. \

AS far as the clutch cable burning on the long tubes, my little brother has a 79 Mercury Capri with a 306, long tubes and a 5 speed. He has had this setup for almost a year and it is a daily driver and he has not burnt a cable yet. ( NOT saying it doesnt happen, I have done it on my equals, just saying his has not done it.) I am not sure what he what he has done to keep it from happening.

All in all sounds like you are making some headway. I am looking for a beater at the moment so I can park the stang and start "refreshing" her and giving her a facelift.

Good luck.

Drew

well on top of that i just installed new weather stripping on the doors and hatch. i'm getting ready to put the heater core in,and i'm putting a steering column out of an 89 gt so i get tilt and a nice wheel.i also put new door lock actuators on and door handles too. next is the headliner. i allready have the carpet for it. so once the heater and the head liner are done i'll be throwing her back together.
