Default Help!!!! Have serious dilema

I just purchased an 88GT in very good condition that was stock, not anymore. But I also have an 86GT that I've had for 6 yrs. This was my baby since high school, but I beat her up pretty good. A deer jumped in front of her once denting the corner of the hood and knocking out the headlight divider. Also a moron backed into her in the mall parking lot. Nothing too serious, but things that I never bothered to fix because I was more interested in speed than cosmetics. Also lent her to a friend one night and he swamped her in salt water, not inside but ruined the orig. engine. This was almost 2 years ago and she's been sitting in the driveway with a new engine awaiting installation. Now the engine is ready but I purchased an 88GT and love it. What should I do? The 88 is in great shape and I'm thinking of stripping the 86 of all useable parts and sending her to the scrap pile and putting the engine in the 88 and keeping the extra motor just in case!

no dilema for me lol i would keep em both since now you have the 88' and the 86 is still in storage between santa and summit lol i would make em both wicked hot one thing at a time of course if there is a budget issue? i would keep em both just to have an efi and a carbed one.

I actually live in EHT Fast, know a few people that work at Borgata, mostly babes. As for the car, the frame is twisted slightly, mostly due to an accident that happened long before I purchased car and I really only have time and money for 1, if I had a long term (say 4 yrs or so) place to keep the 86 it would be a no-brainer, but only 1 can have the driveway and I'm sure as hell not parking the 88 in the street after all the work is done. Fast can probably attest to the incompetence of NJ drivers, and the Twp. much less the neighbors would not approve of the 86 w/ no motor in the street for a long period of time.

I wish I would have kept the 86 Trans Am that was my Baby in High School. I could afford to fix all the little stuff now. Give my feelings on this...

I say Use what you need from the 88 to restore the 86 and sale it as a project car to someone else. Keep your baby in the family and pass it down to the next generation. Especially if it was your first car. Restoring a mid 80's car won;t be very hard right now, but every year good quality OEM parts become harder and harder to find.

BEsides the 86 is the only 4eyes that had the FI 5.0HO in it making it on the rare side.

i agree with kyle.but if the frame is bent beyond repair or if the repair costs too much, then the decission is easy. sell the 86.

Committed her today, stripped the rims, short throw shifter, headersm, H-pipe, and the deck lid, I think it will fit? Anyway this was my original plan when I bought the 88, but got a little sentimental when it came time to actually do it. Also the point about parts being hard to find, it was always a pain with that car and she needed a new everything. Thanks for your input guys, but it just made more sense for me to scrap it.

Hey two more newjersens, I think you made the right move by junking the 86'. From your pic the 88' looks sweet, and I hate those dumb deer too. I had one clip my explorer last night on route 9/ 147. No damage thank god, but i do feel bad for the woman who did hit it.

LOL that just an avatar, haven't uploaded any pics yet. Mine is grey with totally stock look, on the outside. Hopefully will have the pics soon though. Red is a pig magnet, the 86 was red, ahhhhhhhh the memories. Got 10 tickets in one stop in that thing!!!!!!! and no I'm not exaggerating.

Yeah I hear you, a rifle would be cheaper then fixing your front end. Red is like a dounut to a cop. They just have to chase it! I got a ticket from a cape may cop, because he said my exhaust was too loud. BS....I thing he was just pissed off that my g/f is hotter then his wife.
