well i gotta new best time in the 1/8th... a 8.941 @ 79.06mph... what do you guys think that would be in the 1/4??? Think maybe i might have crossed the 13 second barrier? And with still the stock heads cam and intake.... i'm only thinking this cuz there were 06 GT's runnin 9.0's and evo 8's runnin about the same... i think i'm gonna get a shift kit soon to tighten up my shifts, my 2nd to 3rd is getting a lil soft on me. Well anyways tell me what you guys think!
it might be possible. You will need stickies to do so. My sig has about 95% of my mods in it that I was running when I ran at the track. I ran a low 14 (twice) on street tires. I was spinning all the way through 2nd. I could have been in the 13's with a set of stickies.

yea man get some slicks... you should stick with your rear brake setup from the 94+ GT's because you can still fit 15" drag wheels on there
i cant believe youre out there at the track burnin up your street tires! those suckers are pricey

lol well it turns out i'm gonna have to get a new set of rear tires anyway, because one of the rear tires is getting a bulge in the side wall... but its ok cuz i got the tires off of my brothers old rims and they aint that good.... as for traction, i got a good launch and only chirped second when i did a good burn out... but when i didn't do a good burnout and some water was still on the tires i spun first and second pretty bad. I think i might invest in some lower control arms soon too.

Hey drew do you remember what your 1/8th mile times were when you ran your low 14?
Don't forget about your torque boxes. If you plan on drag racing regulary, especially with a sticky tire, you may want to consider upgrading. So for my 5.0L has run a best of 12.54 in the 1/4 and I've ripped out both my lower boxes, one upper box, and recently pulled an axle tube out of the housing (launching at 6500 RPM does wonders for the drivetrain ).

I can't find my low 14 timeslip. I found my time slip from the time I ran a 14.8 ( again spinning all the way through 1st and 2nd. ) My 1/8th time on that one was a 9.559.

What exactly can you do to upgrade your torque boxes? If i'm not mistaking its just where your control arms mount to the body, but how do you prevent them from breaking? just weld em back up or what?

hmm so assuming our cars are accelerating at the same speed after the 1/8th, thats 1/2 a second off your time so that would equate to a 14.3... hmmm so prolly a little faster than that would be accurate.... but its hard to know for sure, damn! BTW i'm going back out to the drags this thursday so maybe i can get a lil better time! haha, i'm addicted! I really need to check when the next street legal drags are at California Speedway... then i can see what it'll run in the 1/4... lol and i think i'm gonna ask for a helmet from my grandmother for christmas seeing how i'm starting to get close to the border line now!
dont mean to b crushing hopes but ur forgetting 1 thing... foxes r notorious for runing out of breath when they hit 4th, there jack rabbits off the line and quick in the 1/8 but without h/c/i they die after 3rd gear i found this out when i blew a mach 1 off the line only for it to come flying by like a rocket just as it passed the 1/8th

Yup, the DOHC engines breath better up top. A good way to get around this is with a set of 3.55's or 3.73's.
Main problem is the heads and cam that give a good Torque curve that just doesn;t reach very high that runs you out of your gears too quickly. So, you have to do something to give the higher gears a chance to pull.

ya i understand this concept... going from a 1:1 ratio gear to a .67:1 ratio gear can do that to you... however even with the 3.73's i dont really think i'll get out of third at the end of the 1/4... i think when i did the mph calculator my top speed in 1:1 was 112 mph at 5500 rpm, and if i push it to 6000 rpm it says i can get 122 mph out of 3rd... wait, are u talkin bout a 5-speed or an AOD? either way i think my 1:1 gear pulls pretty good!
its truubles thread from a while ago when he first made it into the 13's...
"60 foot 2.052
1/8 mile 8.983 @ 77.43
1/4 mile 13.985 @98.82 mph"
so if my 1/8th was a 8.941 and 60ft was a 2.037 then i should be right around 13.9 in the 1/4! Although i believe this is when he had his supercharger so he was prolly pulling harder on the 2nd half of the track then i am... but i'm thinking it would still be close. Oh and by the way this thurday at the track i didn't brake into the 8's again... just ran consistant 9.0's 6 times in a row! lol. but i think its the first time i went to the track and actually won all of my races!!! that made me feel good. lol.
i had/have 3:73's on that run and yea its a 5 speed never got into 5th tho and still had a some gear left in 4th i ahd a 1.9x 60 ft time 2...sucker just died in 3rd

hmm i dont really see why, mine seems to pull hard all the way through 3rd and mines an auto... it may differ from car to car. Also what was your time in the 1/4 when you were running that mach 1 and got a 1.9 60ft?
