Default help me out.i think my fact spring were cut

i think my fact spring were cut from one of the previous owners. i actually know they were. the car has a real solid bounce when i hit a bump. like 2 times, and it is short.if that makes any sense. i was convinced of it when i turned my steering full lock and i heard grinding in the front end with the fact rims. the tires are 215 up front,so thats not it.

so what i am saying is. i need offset racks don't i. i will be doing a full suspension but not yet. i will be soon. i just need to fix this problem or not turn the wheel full lock. this may be a dumb ?,but will this damage anything else besides the crumy turbine wheels?
thanks guys.

Default Suspoct Suspension

If your springs were butchered by some moron, you may be driving an unsafe car. Lowering a street-driven car more than 1.5 inches is usually a recipe for problems. Doing so with a hack saw might create a car which will start breaking front end components.

I'd recommend that you IMMEDIATELY pick up a set of aftermarket springs (They really aren't that expensive - I've seen them for under $100, though I recommend you go with a brand name that might be closer to $200).

A knowledgeable mechanic needs to check your front suspension. The tire rod ends, A arm bushings, struts, and of course the steering rack itself may have been damaged. Dropping the car too far wrecks the normal steering geometry, and a condition known as "bumpsteer" (and yes, it pretty much means what it says) occurs. This can be VERY dangerous, particularly at speed.

if you want a really nice set of stuff, check out my review on the bullitt handling package for 94-04 mustangs, just search the 5.0 forums for it..

its 420 bucks from summit, and one hell of a deal. you get springs, shocks, struts, hardware, upper spring isolators... everything you need to make your car handle like a champ.

it says 94-04, but trust me they fit our fox bodies fine..
you SHOULD invest in some caster/camber plates as well... alot of guys prefer the maximim motorsports ones, but summit has ones made by QA1 that are a bit cheaper at 150 bucks, and function just fine, and look great too. i have them with the bullitt kit and couldnt be happier.

and you cant go wrong with ford parts

Also check your lower ball joints if your hearing a "grinding" when the wheel is turned all the way. I imagine you have looked to see if the tires hit anything in the wheel well so this may be cause of the noise you are hearing.

i wouldn't tell too many people that.lol

i had the bullit suspension kit on my 2000 gt when i had it. i wasn't that impressed with it. i still had some very noticable brake dive and body roll. plus i had welded subs,k-brace and a strut brace.the only thing that was left was the rate of the springs and the bigger sway bars and i prolly could have used a better shock. i had tokiko alluminas on it. that was prolly the main reason for it. but once i found out what the spring rates were it was too late,i had allready put them on. those spings aren't stiff enough for me. but thats me. thanks for the addvice on suspension anyway though.

i plan on doing c/c plates as well. prolly m/m.
thanks again guys.

its a bit different on a fox body. the car is alot lighter than the 2000 coupe. 650lb springs up front are quite stiff for the fox. and its 100 times better than stock springs and struts from the late 80's. and for the price, the kit is unbeatable.

i have pics of my car in my profile, thats it... its in pieces now. it didnt lower it much at first, my car was already sagging big time because of bad stock springs. its brings the car down about 1" lower than it would have been when stock in 1988. i bought mine from summit, free shipping. the sway bars do NOT fit fox bodies. i have mine in the box, waiting for the next parts swap. the drop is nice on the LX, if you want to see it on a GT, redhot87 has the kit on his GT, his looks low and very nice.

get yourself some new urethane sway bar bushings, and some new urethane endlinks as well, they will make a hell of a difference in your handling.

I have the Bullitt Pieces on my 92 GT and they work great with a Fox Body Car, mine lowered about 7/8" up Front and about 3/4" out back. Cut springs really ride bad on a car, if you are rubbing at full lock when steering then you can put some rack limiters in as they are dirt cheap and very easy to install.
