Default Home Made Sub-Frame Connectors

The other day I was talking to a guy telling him that I could get sub-frame connectors and UCA's and LCA's for $205 shipped. Does that sound like a decent price off ebay? They're brand new. Then he tells me not to waste my money on sub-frames because he could easily make them out of a few things. This doesn't sound like a very good idea, but maybe it's genius and could save me money, what do you guys think?

I've seen home made ones. It was just a straight piece of round hollow tubing.
The diameter of the tubing was equal to the sub-frame. It was pretty thick stuff. They were made about as long as they could be. They were run along the bottom and welded with thick rectangular plates on both sides of the sub-frame in 2 spots
on both the front and rear half. It looked very solid. And Actually They were on
An '84 4 cyl car gone 460/auto a friend let me fix/drive. This car was a Frankenstang, but It pulled hard and went sideways like butter!! I'm not sayin'
these SF connectors are the reason, But the car was stiff and it looked like something that might be worth doin'. $0.02

Subframe connectors aren't rocket science if but- the good ones are strong and light. You don't want to add a ton of weight to you car... You get what you pay for- To me you can get top of line SFC from Steeda or MM for less then 200 bucks, I think its worth it. Bolt ons are junk btw. Control Arms - buy the best stuff you can afford. There is a huge difference. Cheap arms squeak but worse they bind and can actually cause you to loose control and handling. Again you get what you pay for. Again Steeda or MM have the best stuff. I have the Steeda Alum arms amazing difference.

Subframe connectors are one of the simplest mods known to mustangs, second only to the stupid air silencer If you can weld, and in some cases bend, steel tubing then you are probably better off doing it yourself. Just remember that you want to use round tubing and the torsional stifness goes up by a power of 4 as the diameter increases so the bigger the better (space permitting).

Thats my thought....

I have round tubing in my 86 for the subframe connectors, works like a charm, came with the car and you can notice the difference
