I bought and LX about a year and a half ago with all the GT side skirts and hoopla on it. I would really like to get my car looking back to the LX it is, but I'm curious as to all the bolt holes and things I'm facing if I take them off.
The car was painted with them on so if I take them off, am I gonna have a discolored body? Am I gonna have a ton of bolt holes?
Today, I walked out of Wal-Mart and heard the most gorgeous sound in the world, looked over and saw a tungsten LX with my wheels (cobra r's) only chrome. It sat a little lower in the front and looked absolutly amazing. It was the best looking, sounding, looking, and sounding car I've ever heard. I just stared at it with my jaw on the ground. The looked at me and smiled and drove off, which is when I heard the turbo. This thing was a monster.
It just got me thinking, and I'm really ready to get this thing looking the way I want. Just wanted to know what I was getting myself into. Thanks.

There'll be holes (for the mounting brackets) on the front fender behind the door, and probably on the rear quarter behind the door. Then you'll either need to delete the side moldings on the doors, or get the LX ones all the way around. You'll also need LX skirts on the front of the fender, to match the LX front bumper you'll need. You'll also need an LX rear bumper.
If it's been done right, I'd prolly just leave it be.

I plan on getting a new hood and some other exterior items. They'll all just be sittin' around until I take it to get painted. If I pulled them off a few days before I take it to the paint shop, how much trouble would it be to fill in the holes?

You could prolly just bondo 'em. Be sure to have the body shop smooth the scars if you don't feel comfortable doing it, or if you don't know how. You don't want them showing through your new paint.
Keep in mind though, that someone might've put the ground effects on it to hide some rust or body damage - you could be opening a can of worms...
