i have a 1986 GT 5.0 and it won't pass emissions because the hydro carbons are to high. the first time i took tested it it didn't pass by 10 points the other time by 40. the first time i just drove it up ther without warming it up the second time i drove the **** out of it before i took it up. do you guys have any suggections?
Sea foam additive first should help get rid of some of the carbon build up. Then take it out on the road drive it at 120 mph for 20 minutes, then if you don't get a ticket try putting the guaranteed to pass additive in there. With a quality Amaco or sunoco fuel. All of the above can, and will lesson emissions.

I used it to drop my emission worked fine. A quick timing adjustment say 1 to 2 degrees less can also get it passed.

Yup, drop your timing to the stock 10º btdc, change the oil, and give it a tuneup if it hasn't had one in a while. Also, if you have a colder thermostat in there, put a stock 192º one in. And don't run 93 octane. Don't go higher than 91.

With Gar. to pass you must follow instructions .
Add to full tank .
O.K. thats $20-30+ bucks .
Drive it empty , fill again and go test .
That's not as cheap as it was a few years ago .
Some people just put in 2-3 bottles of dry gas .
In Ohio If you fail , you need to improve at least 30%
on the next test .
So when in doubt make it run bad the first time .
Then tune it up for some improvment .
My 86 3.8 mustang passed better with all the old parts .
I changed nearly everything I could think of .
Tps , cat. , o2 sensors , plugs ,cap/roter/wires ...
I still passed but not as well as before .
It runs better now but the mpg are worse .
