Default gt to cobra part 1

heres a pic of the front cobra on. not bolted on but on none the less. i've grown tired of driving the taurus, im pulling my baby back out in febuary (depending on when i can get the money together to finish this project) anyway, heres pic 1.

Am expecting Cobra Rear bumper within 2 weeks.

Also in two weeks, trick flow heads and intake, along with supporting mods...

Black,79 Mustang mostly carbon fiber/kevlar body, M-2300-k brake kit, full roll cage, maximum motorsport suspension, custom geared 6 speed, 2 inch rear fender flares, 1 inch front, motor being built (no eta). Looks like the Mad Max interseptor and weighs about 1800lbs w/o motor (450hp 351w installed to move the car around)
Black, 82 Capri RS 5.0L, B303, 1.7 rockers, World 180 heads, +150hp N.O.S, Turbo coupe rear end, T-56(tremec tko would be beter), 80 cobra nose

nothing personal towards you, you have a sweet car most definitly, but i just have always been against making a car into something its not. The front cobra bumper is sweet for sure, but putting a back cobra bumper on a gt is sort of rice. I mean ins't that what we hate about rice they try to be soemthing there not?

I know your backing the looks up with power but its still a gt not a cobra. I would much rather pull up to an ls1 and have them know they got smoked by a GT rather than a cobra.

Thats just my opinion please dont be offended, its your car do what you want. You have an awesome car that is soon to making some great HP. I would just rather see a fast GT than a fast cobra because cobras are already pretty fast!

id have to agree but it is your decission. id keep the front but dont rebadge it and change the rear bumper. maybe go with cervini or somthing. im putting 98 cobra rims on my 86. ive removed the center caps and am presently making the cap grey to remove the cobra. she wasnt built as a cobra so she'll never pretend to be one.

i know i know.... i changed the quarter windows out but the fronts going to always remain. reguardless good luck on the project.

i'll be making around 320 FWHP. Plenty for a cobra. I will have cobra brakes, all bumpers , badging. So what seperates my car from a cobra? I understand what your saying but im doing motor too. Not to mention the brakes.

it still wont be a cobra though, will you tell people its a cobra? i just dont think you should badge it as a cobra and p[ut the cobra rear bumper on it. Its a gt and that aint to shabby, i would be alot prouder to be making 320rwhp out of a GT than a cobra! just something to think about

no im not going to say its a cobra. if anyone asks its a gt re skinned to cobra. i've always wanted a cobra and i cant get my hands on one and this is the closed im gonna come.

Please do not put the Cobra rear bumper on there. It looks the same as a GT bumper, so you are obviously putting it on there to plaster the "COBRA" nameplate on there.
I have NO problem with putting body parts from other cars on a GT (i.e Saleen body kit, Cobra nose, etc etc.). My problem is when you change the part that has the nameplate on it that your car is NOT.
For example, if I had a 93 GT, I would not hesitate to put a 93 Cobra rear bumper on it. The Cobra bumper LOOKS different, and alot better; and it doesn't say "Cobra" on it.
On the other hand, the SN95 Cobra bumper looks IDENTICAL to a GT bumper; it just has different lettering on it. Therefore you are only wanting the lettering, aka the fakeness aka the rice.

Make your car look the way you want it; without the Cobra name on it. Tell people it's a GT; nothing more, nothing less.
I've got Saleen body parts on my Fox LX... do I ever even WHISPER that my car is a Saleen?... NO.
My LX has more hp than a non-SC/SSC/SA-10 Saleen... so does that mean I can say my car is a Saleen?... NO.

You may have the Cobra front bumper and the Cobra brakes.... but you ask what else a Cobra has that your car does not...?...

Do you have the 94/95 Cobra decklid/wing?
Do you have the leather-wrapped Cobra steering wheel?
Do you have the 160-mph Cobra white gauge faces?
Do you have the Cobra headlights?
Will you have the REAL Cobra master cylinder?
Will you have the Cobra suspension?
Will you have an SVT certificate?

Even if you wanna say the car is a "GT reskinned as a Cobra", you don't have the full Cobra body parts. Who knows, you may even be putting the WRONG Cobra rear bumper on your car
I'll give you a hint: I would have NO problem with you putting on a rear 94/95 Cobra rear bumper.

Your car is a GT, there's nothing wrong with that

i agree with what pro mod is saying. makeing ur car something that it isnt is considered "ricein". personally if i was in a crapmaro i would rather be beatin my a true corba not a posser. thats like taking a plan camaro and makeing it an SS or a yeko clone and to me thats just gay.

Well, I agree to turn a stock GT into a Cobra, beacuse of the followwing:

1.- Here we only had Cobras in 1997
2.- Here we didn't had convertible Cobras
3.- Here, you can't import an earlier model Cobra.

Being my car a GT Convertible, I started to make it into a Cobra just to have a different car from everyone else. I have EVERYTHING a Cobra should have:

5 Speed tranny
Cobra brakes
Better master cilinder (better than stock Cobra)
Better suspension (better than stock Cobra)
Cobra rear wing (with the leds)
Cobra front and badges
Leather steering wing with the "COBRA" air bag.
Better Heads, cam, rockers, exhaust, gauges, etc...

This has become more expensive than having bought a 94 Cobra, but when I change the bumper, I just couldnt let it "unfinished" it has to be all the way.

I, in the other hand, agree that a Cervini, etc kit would be as good as Cobra, but, HEY, theyre are a LOT of Saleen replicas out there and nobody says a word...

Anyways, you can make you car whatever you want... If you have spent a lot in engine components... why sell it all to trade for a slower cobra???

thanks ronky. i was going to do saleen but decided not to...i even had the whole kit sittin in my driveway! but i wanted a stock look. so i went cobra. I wanted to seperate my car from the rest of the v6's and gt's out there. The only difference between exterior of a GT and a v6 was the dual exhaust and of course the small GT on the side. Theres so many of these running around its sickening. I want to be different. There are alot less cobra's arouind and when you see a cobra, you know its fast. I dont want people to look at my car and be like its just a GT. Now some of you dont care , and actually prefer a sleeper look, but i on the other hand want a car that is fast, and looks fast. And for those of you who have the audaciety to call me a ricer , well thats just a shame. Last time i checked a ricer is one who talks and acts and trys to make his car 'look' fast but isn't 'fast'. But like i said im beefin up the motor to the tune of 320 - 340 FWHP. Now if your going to call a car that has 320 hp and 350 lbs of torque rice just because i made the bumpers say cobra instead of GT, well i recomend you sit back and re-evaluate your concept of ricer?? Because if your going to have to call me a ricer for changing appeances, your calling steve saleen a ricer. Think about it. he takes GT's and COBRA"s and makes them saleen's. He changed it from a GT...to a saleen. so according to you guys, steve saleen is a ricer too??? I dont see much difference between steve saleen's actions and mine. im taking a GT and making it something else. And we both put more power to back up the power claim the looks give. Think about it.

Spider, ever laugh at guys for taking a Civic and putting on a Type R emblem? I embaressed a guy at a show once by walking over to his car and asking if the guy that he baught it from might have stole it. he asked me why I would ask that and I told him that the VIN stated that his V8 vert was a 6 cylider coupe. the 3 guys that he was trying to sell it too (did not know at the time) walked away quickly. He informed me that he converted the car, so I took a look at it, and he basically cut the roof off and added a top.

I am not saying that you are doing ANYTHING as bad as this guy did, but if you make this car look like a cobra down to the elbems, well, it may not be rice, but in my opinion, it is a fake, and not as cool as a stock body GT with the same performance mods.

The mods that I would do are a Cobra front bumper and a 95 R hood.....and a Sleen spoiler, it will look real good, and stand out while not being a fake.

hey Spyder, i think you have an awesome car and it is going to look great with all the cobra stuff on... I hope to turn my 98 GT into something like a saleen clone or something like that, i want something that will stand out from other mustangs...I hope your conversion goes well and good luck!

what cobra bumber are you getting? my friends 94 cobra with all SVT papers has a bumper that says "MUSTANG" i didnt think untill 96 was "COBRA" on the rear bumper. i could be wrong but i dont think i am.
