Changed the EGR on my 5.0, still having idle problems...
I changed my EGR, and the car ran fine over the weekend. This morning however, when i started it up it would not idle. Same as before, jumping from 500 to 1500 rpms, eventually stalling out.The only difference is, now its from a cold start and continues at every stopping point. The EGR i thought wasnt used at start up, so this seems like a new symptom. Then i was reading a thread on here talking about cars running lean and having irratic idle from an exhaust leak where the headers and midpipe connect. Could this be my symptom?? Come to think of it, the problem was never there before i readjusted my h-pipe while changing the vacuum hose on it. Any thoughts or ideas??
Oh, i also forgot to mention that i already cleaned the IAC. There was no visible damage to it and it looks fairly new (maybe a year or a little over??).

I fixed my idle surge problem by setting my idle at 900rpms
my dash tach was off by 150 to 200 rpms at idle
tps .98
timing 14
fuel 43psi
good luck

Sorry guy, I just now found this.
Yes, that could be it. Go back and recheck everything you did to try to eliminate that as being a possibility. If there's a leak at the collector, the O2 sensor might be reading the extra air as more oxygen and changing the air fuel mix.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

Idle problem could also be a dirty idle air control valve. It's the cylindrical device connected to the TB. Remove it, clean w/ TB cleaner. Also remove TB and spray cleaner on a cloth and wipe clean. Do not spray directly in TB and upper intake. Be sure to have new gaskets before doing this. The old ones may break.

Have you done any mod's to your car lately, like TB, Injectors, MAF sensor? There are many things that control the fuel regulation, the IAC, TPS sensor, AIC sensor(# 5 intake runner), ECT sensor (passenger side forward on coolant rail) O2 sensors. Is your car spitting out any codes from the EEC? Let us know what codes you find.

Ive cleaned the IAC already and havent done any mods anywhere near that area of the car in over six months. Im leaning towards the exhaust leak im having coming from the header and midpipe. Question though....could it be a bad TPS at all??

It could have went bad, not sure if there is a code that would get spitted out, never ran into that problem. Take a Digital Multimeter and check the Volts DC and set the TPS to .98, to get it there, loosen the two screws that hold it on and turn it to reach .98. As far as connecting the multimeter to the TPS, I have a jumper plug I use, picked it up off EBAY to get the reading. What mods did you do in that area?

The last mods in that area were the CAI and throttle body...six months ago. Before that was the HCI setup. The problem just started, so im pretty sure i would have known before now if that was the case....or maybe i wouldnt...what do you guys think??
