Default Rearend swap

A friend of mine has found a 1986 Mark VIII. He is going to buy the car for parts. He is going to take the front rotors and place on his '91 LX. He was wondering if the rear axles can be swapped also. If so, can the rear discs brakes from the Mark VIII also be swapped. Thanks for any info.

I dont think the Axles can be swapped you will need a set of Ranger Drivers side axles, after that you should be able to make the disk brakes work.

The axles cannot be swapped into the Mustang housing. The housing itself can be installed, but it is 1.5" wider per side so he will have to change to wheels with the correct backspacing.

Thanks for the info. Would it be possible to use axles from a SN-95 Mustang and use the disc brakes from the Mark VIII? Thanks for the replies. I will pass the info on to my friend.

I think the sn95 and mark VIII are the same thing. I was told that I could put sn95 axles in my turbo coupe rearend to convert to five bolt. The turbo coupe is 1.5" wider perside than the mustang same as the mark VIII.

It might be a Mark VII. Are the rear axles different from the Mark VIII? If so, can they be used in the Mustang? Thanks for you replies.

Thanks, Twister. It is not a Mark VIII then because it has a solid axle as far as I know. Thanks for your replies.
