Just bought a 1989 Mustang LX convertible today. It has some issues but is straight and rust free so it is a good start for a restoration project.
The 5.0 engine has a very noticeable tick sound which increases in frequency when the engine is revved up. to me it sounds like a bad lifter. Are these engines known to collapse lifters or have valve train issues? The ticking does not seem to be an exhaust leak although it does have headers. And it is too light to be a rod I think.
