Has anyone ever rebuilt there auto tranny? i was wondering how hard it is to, or if i should just find a used one? thanks...

Have you ever rebuilt an auto transmission before? If the answer is no, then I would suggest that you purchase a complete rebuilt one with a torqure converter. Also remember to flush out the transmission cooler lines and the cooler before installing the transmission or else failure will result from debris entering that fresh transmission.

I have rebuilt a few AOD's a while back. I know that I needed a shop manual, a clutch pack compressor and a dial gauge to properly select a thrust shim for proper preload. Not to mention going through the valve body and installing any necessary updates that it may require.

I know this is not the classifieds, but if your interested I've got a low milage aod out my wrecked 93 5.0 [dont drink and drive]. Its yours for 300.00 and heres the kicker my roommate is driving his pickup to Ohio in the next 2 weeks. I dont really care if it sells or not so 300 firm, but if interested let me know.
