Ok, that sounds right then. I hope you can find a set of wheels with that much backspace.

If I just get an entire rear assembly out of a Lincoln Mark VII will it work? and how much wider is the axle than my factory 7.5 v6 rear end?

did you have any rear fender clearance issues with the new (wider) track width and 9" wheels? also... i would have thought the 275's would rub.. no? or did you have the fenders rolled?

I'll have to double check the BS on my 17x9s but the 275s fit perfectly flush with the fenders, and if I have to roll the inner lip, no big deal...I work at a body shop... the 17x8s with 245s look great and are also flush with the fender using '96+ spindles...

The guy who posted earlier with th rears locking up...it sounds like maybe you didn't disable the self adjuster on the e-brake handle since now the calipers and e-brake are adjusting and putting too much pressure on the pads, over.
Did you ever find out what your BS was? I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to have to do to get 17x9's on the rear of my '86 GT after I convert it this summer. I'm going to be using a full SN-95 setup, including the rear, thus making my rear track 3/4" wider on each side. I already ordered repro 98(i think) style cobra R's but Im not sure of the BS. I'm hoping Ill be able to get away with just rolling the fender lips in the rear. any thoughts?

I think the backspacing should be in the 5.5-6" range. My wheels are 6.125" BS, but they fit fine. Yes, I did have to roll the fenders.

I'm not sure if the entire axle will bolt up, I don't think I've ever heard of anyone using one. You'd have to do some measuring. I believe the brakes are the same as what came on the SVO mustangs, if you wanted to use them.

Check out the link in the first post of this thread. It explains what parts you can use. I think you'll need rotors from a Ranger.

87-93 DISK BRAKE CONVERSION, 5.0L 5 LUG FRONT & REAR, WITH STANDARD ROTORS MUSTANG

Why does it say that it will only fit 8 cyl cars? What about that is different if i swap out the rest of the front end equipment from a 5.0 that isnt listed in the kit?

'87-93 4-cyl cars used smaller brakes with a different spindle. In '87 the 5.0L models were upgraded with larger 11" brakes while the 4-cyl models carried-over the 10" brakes from the previous years.

So if I'm going to replace the spindles with some from a GT that setup will work fine then?

I recently went to a junkyard and took off the front disc brakes of a
94 or 95 V6 mustang . I was able to get everything in one whole unit. For the rear, I removed the rear rotors, dust plates, brake lines, mounting brackets, and driverside rear caliper bracket. I was only able to get one caliper bracket because the other one was already removed. And I still need to get two rear calipers and the passenger side caliper bracket. My first question is, can I buy cobra calipers and would they mount up and work fine with these parts or should I stick to buying parts (calipers, rotors, etc.) for an SN95 V6? The rotors now are in excellent condition. If I could use cobra calipers now, I would buy them now, and upgrade to the rotors when the time comes to replace these. I haven't determined which rims I want. All I know is I would like to use 17" x 9" wide as long as I don't need to modify anything (such as tubbing). Will 9" fit all around? Do I need 9" in the back and 8" in the front to avoid rubbing? Or should I just stick with 8" all around? I plan on taking the axels out of a ranger (driverside) or aerostar. Whichever the junkyard has. Can I use both sides out of an aerostar? Now I guess there is more involved and this is where I'm getting lost. What do I do about the e-brake cable? I just purchased a 93 Cobra MC, 3-2 bracket for it, adjustible proportioning valve, and proportioning valve eliminator from maximum motorsports today. And Steel braided hoses from irotors.com. I know I have already asked a lot of questions, but is there anything I might be forgetting? Thanks. MM Caster / Camber plates will also be purchased before the install. YTD $500 so far. Hoping to keep it under $1000 if I get lucky. (not including rims and tires)
