There are many companys that sell brake conversion kits. Ford Racing, SSBC, Wilwood, Baer, just to name a few. You can also piece together your own kit with parts from later model mustangs and save some money. It all depends on how much money your wanting to spend. What are your plans for the car? Street? Drag? Road racing? What wheels do you want to use? There are many variables to consider.

If you read about my conversion in the first post, you'll see i used a combination of new and used parts. I chose to do the SN95 Cobra brakes. The parts I did buy new were from Ford Racing ordered through Summit.

Baer or Ford Racing. I prefer new parts.
since it's my only car, it's just for the street, a DD.
i agree there are many variables to consider. but I'll decide what wheels I'll install once I get a 5-lug conversion. and I'll ascertain I bookmark your post for reference purposes

You might check out the Ford Racing M-2300-K Cobra Brake Kit. It will come with everything you need and be a good upgrade for a street car and let you run any wheel designed to fit a '94-04 Mustang. It is a bit on the pricey side, at least to me. I couldn't afford to drop that much money all at once, necessitating the need to find some parts in the junkyard. I essentially ended up piecing together the M-2300-K kit, but with some differences to work with my car. The spindles and entire axle assembly were the only parts I got from the salvage, everything else was new. I'll say not to be afraid of salvage parts, some of the time there are parts that aren't available new, such as the spindles. The reason I ask which wheels you want to use because depending on the brake system you choose, it may affect your wheel options. So if there was a certain wheel you wanted to use, you would want to build your brakes around those. Keep the questions coming, I'll do my best to answer them.

I'll check it out.
I'm not too picky regarding the wheel choice because with a 5-lug conversion, I'll still have many more options than the 4-lug.
I'm thinking about a big brake kit. I know they aren't cheap. But I am amazed at how small the front rotors are...
i agree and understand about how the brakes dictate the wheel options. you must ascertain that the wheels can clear the brakes.
thank you!

you weren't kidding! $2700 is a lot to spend on a 5-lug conversion swap!! i see now why you used some salvage parts. i, too, am willing to use salvage parts.
the best way to find salvage parts-and I'm guessing, please correct me if I'm wrong-is to call local junkyards & say, 'i'm looking to do a 5-lug conversion on a '93 GT. do you have the rear spindles i'll need?'

I thought you'd come around. There is nothing wrong with using salvage parts, just be sure to inspect them closely to make sure the parts aren't bent or cracked. Just tell them you're looking for a set of spindles for a '94-95 Mustang. They are the same for the V6, GT & Cobra, so it doesn't matter which ones. Although if they are from a V6, you might get lucky and be charged a bit less. You might try to get the rear caliper brackets and axles while you're there. You could also get the calipers if you're so inclined, or you can get rebuilt ones for a pretty reasonable price from your local auto parts store. You can also find the parts on eBay, but you never know what you'll get when you receive the box.

Have you had any thoughts on what calipers you want to use? V6/GT Calipers? Cobra?

You can download a .pdf of the M-2300-K instructions from the Ford Racing website. I used it as a parts checklist when I was on my scavenger hunt. It has torque setting and some hand reference photos also.

WOW, did you shop around for a better price? I bought the M-2300-K Kit a few years ago and it was $1795 delivered, best money I spent on the car.

What wheels are you using and what is the backspacing of the wheels? Sounds like the backspacing is way too shallow. My 17x9's fit fine.

The 6" BS is fine, no problem there. Have you changed anything else in the front suspension? Control arms maybe? Also, have you installed Caster/Camber plates yet? Could you take a picture, maybe?
