I bought the car and it didn't run the guy said it had a broken oil pump shaft which i found out it did so i put in a new crate engine . i have spark at plugs , about 35 psi of fuel pressure . It will turn over and it sounds like it is trying to start but it it just wont . I made sure it was on tdc on compression side and that it pointed number one . once the motor was in the car and every thing was triple checked i turned the key and it sounded like it was going to start and it kind of stumbled but that is all it did. HELP
Check out your dist cap, many times it is 180 degrees out. Also make sure the ground strap is connected to the motor. Double check the plug wires the HO has a different firing order than the none HO motor so that may be an issue, make sure the plug wireing setup is correct for your crate motor, "CALL THEM". Most likely it will be in the timing with it wanting to barely start but not. But check everything else also like I said.
i tajked to someone that told me it might be the electronics in the distributor itself, i rechecked the timing again and i know it is set with no. 1 at tdc with rotor button pointing to no. 1 wire
Did u check firing order like cool water mentioned? A call to the maker is always a good start like mentioned earlier..how are the plug wires..are you gettin spark to each plug?

i had a bad pickup coil and i replaced module also but still no start., but know my plugs are wet so i know the injectors are working fine . its a factory replacment engine so nothing should be different on firing order or tdc procedure
1. Pull the #1 Plug and bring motor to TDC.
2. Set your Dis Rotor as Close to #1 as Possible.
3. Unplug Coil wire from Cap find a ground and look for spark.
4. Plug Coil Wire Back into Cap and Look for Spark thru Dis to the #1 Wire. ( No Spark is probally a bad pickup coil )
5. Check all vacum connections, make sure everything looks good.
6. Check fuel pressure.
7. if you have Rollor Rockers Make sure they arent too tight..
