Any Suggestions? rear fender wells rusted out on 1982 t-top

the rear wheel wells are rusted badly. and im fixing the car up and i was wondering how the best way to go about it. complete quaters is best but iam on a samll(under $100)budget. i was told to fiberglass them but i do not know if that will work. even patch panels would work but they are not cheep either.. if any one can help.

patch panels are the cheapest way to go if you have access to a welder and you'll need a little bondo and primer as well as a sanding block and several sheets & grits of sandpaper. I wouldn't fill it up with fiberglass-that's the sucky way to do bodywork(and it won't last very long either). $100 budget? I don't mean to be condescending but from the pic I think you picked the wrong car with that kind of limited fundage. I would suggest getting another parts car if it's solid to cut out sheetmetal from unless you can get a junkyard to do it for you cheaply from one of theirs.

The only way to do it and for it to last is to get some patch panels. Don't do the fiberglass tactic, that's done by those who don't know how to do bodywork or how to fix a problem correctly. Best thing to do is find some used panels and get those, or you could use sheetmetal after you cut out the damaged area.
