Question Another gt-40p head question??????

I have heard a lot of pros and cons in here about the GT-40P heads. I am contemplating putting a 331 stroker kit in my '91 5.0 HO. This is a comment that I got from a guy from a performance shop. Any one in here used the GT-40P heads with a stroker moter? Am I making a mistake? Should I just get the block machined for basicly stock instead. I already have the heads and intakes and I am not in a financial position to get any others.

Steve,
I am doing a price comparison. I am wanting to install a 331 Stroker kit in my 1991 5.0 HO motor. I noticed that Houston Performance has such a kit listed for $1399 with the forged Eagle crank. This is reasonable compared to other sites I have visisited. I will not be using nitros or any type of supercharging or turbocharging, but I will have to have the heads (GT-40P) milled, machined and have stiffer springs installed for higher lift. I can do the install myself, so my question is; What would a ball park figure be for your shop to do the prep work on the block for the stroker crank, to include all other machine work required prior to assembly? Also, what cost would I be looking at to machine the heads, including milling, three angle valve grind, and reassembly with new springs?

We get $1000 for machining and assembly. This includes balancing/decking/line hone/tqplate bore-hone/assembly. I would use another head though. The GT40P heads are a little to small for a 331........................Later

Howdy GhostDog,
I see you are a fellow Texan. I am a transplant from Kentucky, but I have been here since '88. I have a couple of good pics of the heads sent by Ron, but you are most welcome to send what you got.
