I pulled an error code of 66 which I know is low maf signal
While my buddy was at the junkyard pulling a rearend he picked me up 3 MAF sensors all of which were F1ZF-12B579-AA, and all 3 make my engine stall when I connect them, but it idles fine when I unplug them. Could all three of these be bad or is this an incorrect sensor for my 19 pounders. I think he took a couple out of T-birds and one out of a Taurus
and if what Im reading is correct if they were 3.8 V6's then its for like 15lb injectors
Those are wrong. They should not work.
Just go the the junk yard and get a MAF housing and SENSOR from a 94-95 V-6 or V-8 Mustang.
Not only will it work but you get FREE H.P.
Ive heard of people using the F1ZF-12B579-AA and having no problems but I guess theres more than one calibration for this same sensor, one for the V8 and one for the 3.8L
thanks
i am getting a code 66 on my car too. i swapped in a new meter and still had the problem. swapped in a new ecm and still have the problem. i have had this problem for about a year. i am a ase and gm master tech and still haven't fixed it. but i don't believe that swapping parts will help or at least it didn't in my case. check your wiring and make sure all of the terminals are clean and tight. measure the resistance of the wires with the battery disconnected and make sure they can carry a small load.
One thing I plan on doing is using the housing from the tunderbird sc, and using the actual sensor from an oem mass air...
The thunderbird sc has a 70mm mass air meter, but the sensor is for 24lb injectors.

I have a sensor from a 94 4.6 t bird which also has the 70 mm housing and is a direct fit to the fox maf bracket. I think it changed my timing curve seeing that my car will ping with anything above 9-10 degrees base timing.
BTW i think the F1ZF is the stock meter for 91 and up. thats what my car came with.
