I was told the gt40 intake won't clear my strut tower brace cause its too tall and the convertible motor mounts make it higher, is this true? (Mac strut tower brace if it matters) And if so i really want to keep the strut tower brace so what intakes will fit? I like the cobra intake but was told bad things about it but from the specs on the tech article it outflows the gt40 intake? I like the price too but i doubt i'd get it ported cause of the cost, isn't it expenisive to port and polish? And is it worth it to purchase if i don't plan to port it? Any help, thanks!
Don't let the strut tower brace determine your intake. There are other braces that will fit around the intake you want. Look at it this way: How much more hosepower are you gaining with the strut tower brace?
I don't know what your plan for a horsepower goal is or what mods you are planning for your ride but neither the cobra or the gt40 are the best flowing in stock form. If you are looking to extract every ounce of power from your 302 I'd look at another company. Holley, Trick Flow. But the gt40 looks cool! Just my 2 cents...

Yeah i know i shouldn't let it determine my choice but i want a strut tower brace is the problem mainly for looks (its chrome) and stabilty cause the vert needs all it can get. I luv the way the gt-40 and cobra look but i think all the others are ugly as hell even though they do outperform those two. The thing is i'll he doing only bolt ons which will eventually include an intake, heads, cam. Already have full exhaust and other bolt ons could be underdrive pulley's,roller rockers, just some other minor things so i'm looking for good hp gains without too much money, who isn't! The car is just an every day driver in the summer, stored winters and never sees the track. Has AOD with 2400 stall converter and PA street/strip valve body. Which intake do you guys think would be best for me? Regardless of strut tower brace cause i could always sell it and buy another. Thanks
I don't have any input for but I'll add another question to this thread. What brace will fit around a Cobra intake w/ C&L Inlet pipe, all raised 1" by a 1" phenolic spacer?
What year Mustang?
Convertible mounts are shorter than Hatches and Coupes!
I put vert mounts in mine, so I didn't have to pull my motor out to replace them.
I have a GT-40 and had a Saleen strut tower brace.
Depending on what GT-40 you have... I have seen three different version with the top tank having a different end cap.
Sniper: I believe Steeda is working on one for Fox-chassis cars 79-93... I'll be watching out for that one too!

Its a 1991 LX, what does everyone think of the gt40 and cobra, like i said i heard bad things about the cobra from some guys saying "they've had nothing but problems with it and its a piece of junk" just quoting that. I hate the guys anyway but between these two which are my favorite, do they perform well? Also how much does a typical port/polish job cost, considering its freaking impossible to find a place like that here in NY. Thanks!

If you have the Cobra extruded it flows better than the GT-40. You can always have it powder-coated any color or have it polished/chromed.
