Thumbs up 1988 Mustang GT cuts out

I usually had old muscle cars, big blocks and such, I road in my friends 1989 mustang that was stroked and now I am hooked, wow couldnt beleive how it pulled. So I purchased a 1988 ford mustang gt 5.0, I pulled the motor, did a 303 cam edelbrock heads and edlebrock performer intake, I converted it to mass air also, and did 30lbs injectors, I have a 70mm throttle body. 3:73 gears

My car cuts out when i get it on it hard

My questions are:

What do u feel I should set my timing at

Do I need a better fuel pump

what should i have my fuel pressure at

would love any advice

thanks nate

Two things.

The 30 pound injectors are huge, they're similar to putting a big honking 750 double pumper on a stock 302. The 30 pound injectors aren't needed till you're right at the 400 hp mark. Based on just the heads, intake, and cam you're not quite there yet.

The fuel pump, if it's still stock, needs to be upgraded as does the fuel regulator. Stock is 88 lph and the stock regulator isn't adjustable. I'd recommend at least a 190 lph pump, maybe even the 255 if you plan on more mods, and then a good billet regulator to fine tune the delivery.

Base timing is 10 degrees. Most stock motors you can advance your timing to 14 degrees and higher as long as your not getting any detonation. With those heads, get you some good copper plugs, dont use platums, they seem to run to hot, and try a hotter coil like a msd, accel, or what not. Or you could go all out and put on the full msd aftermarket ignition that comes with the better coil anyway.
