Got a couple questions for you Houston, TX people. What does a 93 5.0 need to be street legal and pass inspection and emissions? I'm going to be moving there in June or July and want to make sure everything is in proper order. I have an offroad h-pipe now and in PA it will pass inspection. We don't have emissions here though. Anybody able to help? Thanks!
So, if I went with some aftermarket headers (not sure which ones) an x-pipe and a flowmaster cat-back system I'd be able to get inspection??

I was just looking on the Texas Dept of Public Saftey website for info on emissions and came up with this...
"If installed as original equipment by the manufacturer, the catalytic converter will be considered a part of the exhaust emission system on all 1984 and later model vehicles. It will be inspected as a part of the exhaust system on prior to 1984 model vehicles."
I am hoping someone in Houston can verify this for me. I'm getting ready to redo my exhaust and don't want to waste $. Any help would be appreciated!! Here's the link to the TDPS website where I got the above quote from.
I highly doubt they will do that. Take it to a backyard type shop. My friend got his inspection with cut cats, seat belts completely removed, no wipers, one of the head lights were out, and reverse lights were out.
He was lucky. I have the pipes cut right after the muffler and i had to get a shop to weld some one that go past the tank for a day to pass.
