Default 1987 Mustang GT, Rear Tires Rub Fenders.. Help?

New to the forum. Long time mustang lover, new owner.

I have an 87 GT that the rear tires are rubbing the fenders on the smallest of bumps. It has MaxSpeed springs that lower the front 2" and the rear 1.8" (close enough), edlebrock 454 Wheels (17x8) and BFG 255 40 17 rubber in the back. The springs were put on a week ago and i noticed the rubbing about a day later. Can this be solved with larger Bump Stops? Shocks and struts were replaced as well. Just regular monroes (dont remember the exact model of shock I would have to look). Any help would be great. Thanks

It sucks. If i corner hard or hit anything other than a mild bump it hits. I have stopped driving it until i resolve this. Whether it is put my old rear springs back on, add spacers, or stiffer shocks. I'm not sure that stiffer shocks would solve my issue. Maybe. I was thinking about putting spring spacers in this weekend to try that. I think it only needs about a half inch or inch.

Now i think i have an exhaust leak as well. Might have blown a header gasket.

Any idea where to find the spacer? I have seen some poly spacers that lift the rear but most of what i have seen are for a 2" lift.

For the short-term fix go with Notcher - hammer!

That Eastwood tool looks awesome!

You can get some Prothane spring isolators, they come in various thicknesses. I would check their website, and see what you can find.

Thanks! I will look into it. For the moment I just rolled the lip up a little. Doesn't seem to be hitting at the moment. Just a temp fix so i can drive it.

Default tire rub coil spring spacer followup

Mntbiker21 and others, did anyone ever try metal spring spacers above the coils? I have same problem, but would rather not roll fenders.

I actually did the baseball bat trick... it's not the cleanest job but unless you are right on top of it you really can't tell. I will have it straightened out when I do the body work.

The new project is a 351c... working on getting all the parts together and then I will work to shoe horn it in there.
