I am converting to mass air, and I keep getting different answers about whether or not the computer I have will work. The computer is out of a 1989 notch 5.0. The car is a 5-speed. My car is a 1988 Mustang GT, with speed density. People keep saying that i need the computer out of a mass air car that had an automatic, any thoughts? I do have all of the wiring/harness.

I hope Eagle or someone will confirm this but I believe you will need a computer tuned for an AOD. I don't mess with factory EFI much anymore and can't remember for sure.
Others will be here soon to confirm! Eagle, where you at?

Should be plug and play. I have run AODs with 5 speed computers, no problems.
Are you concerned about the EEC running the engine or the wiring harness actually working? The wiring is only different for the clutch pedal, I believe pin # 30 - the EEC is looking for whether the clutch is in or out. At any rate, the car will RUN anyway.

I would get a computer that corresponds with the tranny you have. You can use a 5 speed with an automatic computer, but since they are different, I'd go with the other one. Maybe that's the perfectionist in me, but that's what I'd do.
