I have a few quick questions that would be great to have answered before I delve into this project this weekend.
First things first. I am putting in a 1984 5.0 HO motor into my 1986 2.3 NA. I'm keeping the carbed setup to reduce my headaches. Now the questions.
1. Is the swap capable of being done in roughly 10-12 hrs if I leave all the front suspension as is? Is that even possible of doing and working well enough for a 120 mile highway trip and then everyday wear and tear? If it's not possible, then how much more time will it take to swap out the springs and other essentials and what would those be.
2. The 84 has a 7.5 with posi-track, is the 86 also a 7.5? and is it easier to swap out the posi puts and put them in mine, or just take the whole rear end, and either way will the 86's drive shaft hookup properly to the 84 t-5 standard
tranny.
3. Just for verification, motor mounts on the 84 5.0 will bolt right up to the k-member in the 86?
4. Are there any helpful hints/guides/nudges you would like to give for a first timer? My friend (and hopefully dad) will help me do this seeing as they (the dad far more for obvious reasons

) have done theses things before, but alas they are chevy guys, so my friend is quite new to the world of Ford.
