Exclamation Need help setting up an exhaust system

I need some help on setting up an exhaust for a 90 LX 5.0. Right now as it sits its all stock, I just bought some Summit/Flowtech longtube headers and Spintech mufflers with 3 inch inlet/outlet. Should I get an off road H-pipe or just chop up my stock pipes and weld flanges on them to bolt up to the longtubes and weld up the Spintech mufflers at the other end of the stock pipes??? Its a daily driver so I don't want it to be "too" loud to attract cops . What would you guys recommend

see if they make a bolt up x-pipe for use with full lenght headers, check summit or jegs. that way it can be a bolt on process and make it easier on your self! if you want to get a general idea of what your LX will sound like with the spinntechs check out youtube theres quite a bit of vid footage of mustangs with those muffs. just a side note too, make sure to get the proper o2 sensors for long tube headers! the stock ones will read alittle slow due to being down stream a bit. good luck hope it sounds great! (if its to loud your to old!!)

Considering you're in California, you better get some converters on there if you want any hope at getting it inspected.

if you didnt get the pro street spintechs it wont be too loud. i have the 2 1/4" duals on my 79 f250 with longtubes and it is pretty quiet until you get on it.

I decided to buy some 3" electric cutouts but just realized my mufflers are 2 1/2"...is there a "Y" cutout thats 2 1/2" on the straight part and 3" on the cutout part? also if I'm running long tubes do I still use an X or H pipe or does that part get eliminated with the longtubes?? I'm thinking of running cats just in case I get pulled over I don't want to have to deal with getting a bigass ticket. Can you post up how your exhaust is set up (ex: shorty headers-x pipe-no cats-flowmasters-pipes) Thanks again I appreciate the help since I'm lost on how these exhaust's should be setup since on my other car, BMW M3, it was so much easier lol

If you really want to get the most for your $, make a setup that bolts from Cats to an X pipe. That way you can run w/ out them but put them back on for inspection time...
