i found a set of 16's off a wrecked 94, i was wondering what drag radials i could put on them for just track use only? i want good traction and like it said they wont see the street just the track, what would be a good choice for me? are there any slicks that would work better and still fit on the rims? thanks in advance. there is also a set of 15's i think off a V6 mustang, i think there 15's they look smaller but im not sure, would these, if they are 15's work better or even fit on my car?

15's are the best. nitto drag radials are suppose to hook awesome. but if you have a spare set of rims i'd toss real slicks on there and get the most traction possible.

thast what i was thinking, but i really dont have a clue when it comes to slicks and drag radials. so would those rims have been 15's? i dont have the money to go get welds or anyother type rim. i also know rangers have 15's and i think they have the same bolt patern, but not sure about the spacing and what not.

If you're talking about a track only tire, get a set of 15" x 8.5" x 26" MT slicks. They'd be perfect for your car and will fit nicely on a narrow rim.
If you want an actual radial tire that can be regularly street driven but also works at the track, Nitto and BFG Drag Radials are both excellent tires. Nittos last longer and work better in the rain but BFGs hook better.

thats what im talkin about, something to put in the trunk or have a friend bring out in his truck. would i need any type of spacers to get them to work?

Kyle , I would not reccomend drag slicks for your car yet . Your car would be faster with a good drag radil like bfg drag radials than it would be with slicks . I'm not knockin your car , but you dont have enough horsepower for slicks . slicks run at around 8 - 12 pounds and they will make your car dead hook , but the added friction of them down the track will slow your car down . If you go with a bfg drag radial you'll still be able to dead hook at 18 psi in the tire and it wont cause anywhere near the same friction . You will notice an improvement either way , but I would bet anyone on here $50 that youll be faster with the bfg's .e.t streets would work too. as they are not a slick .

Fordgazm, that's why I recommend an 8.5" slick. A 10" slick would be too much tire and slow him down.
But, you made me think about this some more and I realized that I forgot one thing. Kyle, you NEED gears. On any good drag tire (slicks or DRs) you're going to have a really hard time launching with 3.08s. My advice is to make a set of 3.73s or 4.10s your next modification. With stock gears, I wouldn't take Fordgazm's bet.
ET Streets basically are slicks. It's pretty much the same tire as an ET Drag. The Streets have a *slightly* stiffer sidewall and 2 grooves cut in them for tread. They work basically just like a true slick.
I'm a big fan of BFG Drag Radials. I don't have a trailer and I hate changing tires at the track. DRs work great but a true slick is always going to be better. I'd see at least mid 1.5s on slicks.
But, if you're going to go to the trouble of swapping at the track, you might as well use slicks. If you don't oversize your slicks they'll work fine.
The biggest problem with slicks is breaking stock axles. I doubt Kyle has enough power to worry about that.
yea, im sure i dont have the power either. 373s will be in this summer, hopefully GT40 and a cobra intake. (take offs from a cobra) i just am having hook problems right now and i wanted to work on the tire part, i pretty much know what for suspensions, but im a loss when it comes to tires. thanks everyone.
