I'm a 100% total newb on all this but at a local auto parts store just yesterday, an employee told me the exact same thing on the heads, 1999 year explorer as well. Not sure about the intake but I'll be asking him in the morning about it.

Get 1.6 roller rockers and keep the stock cam, cause your pistons don't have valve reliefs. I think you can switch over to the GT-40 heads, as long as the valves open-up as much as stock. You don't want the valves to hit the pistons; trust me.

Anything but the 86 heads and cam on a 86 stock block, is touchy, some have had no issues, but the majority that I know of, have had clearance issues. You can notch the pistons for valve reliefs while they are in the block, and its fairly easy if you have some basic skills and patience.

I just bought a 90 Mustang LX 5.0 and it has the following mods:

BBK Headers
BBK Cold Air Intake
BBK X Pipe Catless
Flowmaster 40 series tips
Unknown cam
Ford Racing 9mm spark plug wires
Cobra Intake Manifold
BBK Clutch Quadrant
3rd stage clutch
Rear Control Arms
Subframe Connectors

Is there anything recommended for me to have considering the current mods? Also, it smells horribly of unburnt fuel. Would an MSD ignition system burn my fuel better or should I not get one unless I have bigger injectors? Also, how much HP would you say I am making with these mods as an estimate?

First off I love this post, tons of good info, problem is I dont know where to start!
I have a 69 fastback with a 1994 5.0 in it now. Its basically stock except for the K&N cold air intake and I want to start modding it pretty soon during the winter. What are some of the first things I should buy?
I have $200 now plus about $400 more at christmas. Then later (in about 8 months) ill have another $1000
Thanks!
