Default how about central fuel injection?

any mods i can make to a 5.0 CFI HO that adds or changes what you said? I guess my '85 was the only year with cfi. Im afraid you will say convert to CARB or EFI.

I disagree with the opinion that adding headers doesn't do much good on an otherwise stock engine.

The first thing I did on mine aside from a K&N cone was put on BBK 1 3/4" long-tube headers and a matching catalytic H-pipe while leaving the catback stock, and I noticed some big gains, especially in the low end.

I don't have any timeslips to substantiate that claim, but in my opinion it "made 3rd gear feel like 2nd".

And regarding that, I have a question. I plan on finding a 5.0 thats closest to stock, and putting everything on myself. That way thers less chance of damage to engine, and I get to choose my options. The chances are, that the stock car will have some restrictive muffler, ugly rims, and paint that brings tears to the eyes. So to all you people out there with modded 5.0's, how big of a mistake would it be to invest into paint, rims/tires, and exaust first, rather then doing the reccomened engine mods? The reason I want to do it this way is because my funding is limited. So after buying the car, bone stock, it would be nice to clean it up, make it sound awsome, something to be proud of. And then I figure once that is done, whatever money comes in I start doing the reccomended upgrades, with my end goal of around 350hp. Are there any downsides to doing it this way. Or a reason why its a total no-no?

Thanks!

Quoted " Here the choice is yours, the X will increase power about 5-8 HP more than and H pipe but it is also more expensive. X and H pipes can be bought for OFF ROAD use which means they don't have cat converters or street legal versions with high flow cats. The later are about twice as expensive but might be required in some state."

I have an H-Pipe but because it was too loud and the cops used to stop me almost everyday.. I had to fit Catco hi-flow catalaytic converters, they hav reduced the noise but I dont know why I feel it hurt performance a little.. a price which I had to pay.

I am pretty new to all this but I am trying to figure out how much HP I should have with the following mods:
K&N Cold Air
70mm MAF (i think)
65mm TB
Underdrive Pulleys
Headers
2 1/2 inch exhaust
offroad h pipe
flowmaster mufflers
accel ignition
stock intake and stock heads
I know the intake and heads should have been done but I bought he car with all these mods and alot more so I couldnt complain.

I was told that the '98 Explorer has a 5.0L whose intake is exactly the same as the Cobra intake AND it has GT40P heads on it... anyone have any knowledge/experience with this? Would that engine be a worthwhile swap into my 1990 2.3L Vert or should I just get use an engine out of a GT if I get a donor car?

Thanks!

What about gears? That would be the 2nd mod I'd do right after subframes... no real HP gain but what a big difference in seat of the pants!

4.10 all the way...

I heard that adjusting timing can be free horsepower.
I read that "Most 5.0 Mustangs are delivered from the factory with the ignition timing set from 4-6 BTDC. Stock is 10. With premium fuel, start at 13-14. If you have no detonation, increase upward. Timing is free horsepwer and will run better up to 14-16 of timing." in the basic engine adjustments section of Mustangsunlimited. There... I dont plageurize

AFR offers head I think they're the 165cfm heads they sell,

with an intake change and putting those heads on ($1500) you sit at 400hp.

there's an article online if you search for it
