Default Trannys going bad!

I have a 1993 GT see signature. For the past few months my second gear has been acting up. Ill put it into second from first and miss 2nd! Sometimes its so bad i cant put it in second and have to put to back into 1st. Recently Ill be downshifting from 3rd to 2nd to slow the car down and itll pop out of 2nd and ill have to slam on my brakes to order to stop in time. This has goin from annoying to hazardous in 4 months! Anyway with only 74k miles i guess its itme for some major work on the tranny. Ive been considering a new fordracing tranny or a Tremec T-5. In my Jegs mag. there are two transmissions that i would like you to consider. The Tremac calms to be "Straight out of the Corba R!" but only has 5 gears. Doesnt the Corba R have 6? Anyway it calms 350ft/lb and cost about $1400. The Fordracing calms 330ft/lbs and cost about $1100. Are these trannys any good. I dont want to pay over a thousand dollars for a tranny that is not quality. HELP ME OUT!

Thanks

Adam

sounds like your syncronizers are worn out. If your gonna get a new tranny , then go with the tremec . They're pretty much indestructible and worth it imo

You might want to try D & D Performance:

http://www.ddperformance.com/driveline.htm

I haven't purchased anything from them but I've heard their name on this forum before and I plan on buying my next set of gears from them. They have a huge variety of manual trannys for sale plus all the parts to go along with conversions.

Tremac makes several transmissions for mustangs, the 3550 the Tko and a six speed, their 6 is what is in the 03 cobra, they also make the transmissions for the vet ( I think they also do the viper) and they also have some new model that is now standard for the new mustang gt. The 3550 is rater at over 400ft/lb the tko is even more heavy duty but you have to shorten your drive shaft and I think get a different trans mount. Tremac is top of the line and you can feel the difference…….
