ok another option im lookin at is just throwing some tougher parts into this AODE and run it for this year and swap it out next year along with the 331 thats going in over winter. but i need to lose the stock converter. but with a stall converter, how does that work really? im looking at a 2,500 stall converter. if im driving my car normally on the street, easing into the gas and what not will my car still jerk off the line when it hits 2,500 rpm or will it kick in normally if driven normally. someone told me that with a 2,500 stall, it will only stall out to 2,500 if you flash the converter, aka just step on it from a stand still, but if you drive it around normal you wont notice a difference...is that right??? thanks for the help. just trying to figure things out here. i know nothing about trannys...

I have looked into this in the past and alot of people have told me that a 3000 rpm stall torque converter is fine on the street, so I would imagine a 2500 stall speed would be fine. You will not really notice it too much when driving normal but when you nail it you can tell. I'm going with a 3000 rpm stall very soon. Everybody says to get Precision Industries but they are over $600 and you can get a B&M Holeshot 3000 for under $500. I have read about B&M torque converters and I have never heard a bad thing.
I run a PI 4500 non lock up w/ anti-balooning plate on the street and have no probs

I was just looking at the new Summit catalog I got today and I think I am wrong about the price of the B&M. If I am reading it correctly they are $589. So much stuff to do, I am so confused!
I get as many of my parts from JD's Performance as I can. I think he only sells Precision Industries converters. PI's website is www.converter.com. There's also TCI. I haven't been able to get much info on these converters though. I think they're priced pretty good. And I am pretty sure Art Carr makes torque converters also. Hope that helps.
