Question engine takes too long to start...

when i go to start up my car the engine cranks/turns over a good 7 to 10 times before she fires up. should it take that long to start up? the cap and rotor and wires are all new. the car has been like this from the day i got it. i think it takes too long to start? what can i do to correct this

thanks Al

have you tried a different battery? if you spray wd40 in the throttle body while you try to start it does it help at all? what about pressing the gas while you crank it, does that help?

how old is the fuel filter? have you pulled any codes

does it do this only when it's cold? hot? off and on?

how does ground wire look? corroded maybe, that would stop it from starting. probably the pickup coil in the distributor gone south.

if your fuel filter is so clogged that it has that effect on the car, you should get a huge gain in accelleration when you're done!
