i have an 87 gt supercharged and i know you need to run the spark cold but was just wondering what everyone gaps their plugs to with a supercharger.
this should help.....
Run a colder spark plug: A colder plug helps stave off detonation by running just a tad cooler. The result may not be all that noticeable, but its the little things which add up. Also, gap `em anywhere from .035 to .045. With your cylinder pressures up under boost, the spark needs a little help in jumpin' the gap. I have had varying degrees of success by staying within those numbers. If you use a larger gap, like your stock .052-.056, you may find your engine cutting out at higher rpm's as if it just had its fuel line cut. (Actually, if your engine does cut out momentarily, your boost pressure probably just blew out your spark just like you do to your birthday cake.)

curtwdunnet im laughing right now cause i looked at your mods and everything is exactly the same as what ive done to my car including the supercharger! how you like your paxton? mine isnt loud at all is yours?
i like the paxton, im seeing about 10 psi, took me A LOT more than 4 hours to install tho. Also yes it does not make any noise at all, but when your going from 2000 up you can hear it whistling , i wish it sounded like a vortech to tell you the truth lol
how much hp at the wheels?

im not exactly sure what im making at the wheels... i havent had it dyno tuned yet so im not even sure. what about you? you have any idea what your makin? yea thats the only thing about a paxton supercharger theyre really quiet at idle and low rpm's but when you get into you can hear the whistle. i didnt like not being able to hear the charger at first, just cause i felt like if i spent that kind of money on it i wanted people to know it was supercharged. but now i have a completely different thought process... i cant tell you how many people ive creeped just because its a sleeper! its awesome to pull up at a light and people think it just has a cam and exhaust! haha o by the way since you mentioned that you wish you had a vortech... vortech actually bought paxton out.
before i had the supercharger the 24lbs injectorsm upgraded mass air and accufab 70mm i was makin 290 HP, so im hopin im pushing over 400 now for sure..ima get it dynod fist of next week, so we will find out
yeah i just like vortech because of the noise tho, i want it loud, but your right, i creeped up on a lot stangs around here, thinking i got nothing..but creamed them..i put a big "5.0 Supercharged" on the back window now lol

Is the Paxton gear driven? If it is, it might have a helical gear cut, that'd be why it doesn't make much noise. I too would prefer the supercharger death whistle, some prefer the quiet stealth approach to be sneaky and some like to have others crap their pants when you pull along side.
I would say gap the plugs to .035-.040.

Hey, Ive got everything you guys got, but w/ a vortech supercharger and 12# boost. Im only making 350 @ rear wheels. Let me know after you guys get your dyno!
yea thats the one i got. did they tell you how often to change the fluid in it? i was told it only needed to be changed every 50,000 miles, but the other charger i had i was supposed to change it every 5,000. and it was self contained also, so i was just wonderin if the tech i talked to was full of it and didnt know what he was talkin bout.
