Angry difference between window motors?

this is on a 90 gt convertible

anyone know the difference between the passenger door window motor and the rear (quarter) passenger window motor?

I need the rear window motor, but they are a lot harder to find. I can't find any company that makes them new, just rebuilt or used. They charge $130-$180 for rebuilt on the rear vs $75 for new on the door window motor. (and very few come up on ebay)

From the pictures, it looks like the only difference is the length of the pinion that comes out the center of the gear box. Can I buy a passenger door window motor and just attach the gear box I already have for the rear window? do the two motors have the same torque and/or speed?

what about the motors from the drivers side (door or rear quarter)? anyone know if the armatures are the same as for the passenger quarter window? it seems that if the worm gear on the armature is the same, then I can just swap the gear boxes.

According to Fomoco Parts catalogue the 1/4 pwr window assy's are unique to convertibles. Ford does not indicate if any of the parts of that assy are interchangeable with the fronts. However Ford lists low torque & high torque assy's for the front although it doesn't look like they use low torque on the ragtop models. The fronts can be identifed by the ID numbers on them. You would have to have a Ford dealer cross the #'s over to determine which one you have. It looks like you would have to obtain the proper 1/4 assy to fix your car or experiment by disassembling & eyeballing the various pieces. Ford of Canada no longer sells new assy's , only rebuilts. If you have any questions e-mail me (I'm in Ontario, Canada) & i'll try to answer your questions

Default Where to find rear quarter window motors.

Hey bro,

I have the same problem, but I was able to find the motors on Autozone.com.

http://www.autozone.com/N,15700046//...eResultSet.htm

If that link doesn't work, here are the individual pages.

Passenger side

Drivers side

I need a new one myself (driver's side). Do I have to have new gear kit, or is the old one salvageable? I'd be very interested to here how this goes for you.

Chris
