Just pulled my dash out last week to make it black. Should have replaced my heater core while it was out.

You mean you changed the interior color? But if there is nothing wrong with it aren't you making more work for yourself?

My interior was gray and i changed it all over to black and put in leather seats. I was told that if you ever have to take your dash out for anything. You should replace your heater core or thats just for the foxbodys. Since they are known to go. I guess i was just being lazy.

Actually that is smart of you to do that since you have everything apart in that you are taking care of maintenance that will be needed in the future anyway. I heard waterpumps, power windows, power locks are very faulty in these fox body Mustangs.

Thumbs up great post

This was our first time doing the heater core it took us a total of only 4 1/2 hours to do it thanks to this post, it helped up zip through the removal and install. Thanks again for posting up. I talked to people who it took them a whole day to do this but with two people we took it all apart and put it back together no problem if we had to do it again we could do it prolly even faster. thanks again

I did mine finally too. It was pretty straight forward, Iread this post last year and did it. I did it over a few weeks when i had a few minutes to spare. All in all about 4 hours of work. It was pretty cold when i would be out there and snowing snow that prob didnt help. I noticed i was having serious issues with sealing everything with the silicon glue. The parts were damn cold as was the weather. I was happy that we had a fifty degree day so i finished her up that morning. It was great to feel the heat finally in the car, i never really had done so b4

Question yikes!

My heater core was leaking last fall before I put her in storage for the winter, I was always wondering what was involved in fixing it. If I didn't want to do this right away, could I disconnect the two heater lines at the firewall and join them together temporarily just to keep coolant from coming in and steaming up my windows on the inside? Anybody know?
