Question how can u tell if the distributor is bad or going bad

What would be the symptoms if the dist. is going bad?how long do they usually last?mine is original and i believe the tfi mod. is original as well.just wondering if the dist. would last?

usually if the pickup coil inside the distributor is shot, you cannot start the car , even after changing the ignition module. they do last a long time (>100,000 miles)

or in my case my current dist. is shot where the gear on the bottom is hard to turn due to shot bearings. hello MSD billet


DEAD: 1994 GT (a pine tree fell on it during a windstorm...great huh)

NEW: 1995 GT Convertible, Triple Black; receiving all the goodies from the 1994 gt and some more stuff too
