How to read engine codes on a 1988 Mustang 5.0

No "check engine" light in '88 so you will have to used a VOM or test light.

Thank you. I was a little confused about how people were getting the codes off of their foxbodys but i didnt know that the 88s didnt have a check engine light. Thanks again.

If you look close at the tachometer there is a place for a "check engine" light, but the wiring for it is not there.

You'll need a VOM or code reader. Or go to Auto Zone and have them get them for you, they'll have a code reader.

The car isnt moveable in its current state so how do i get a code reader?

A 12vdc test light will do the function of the CEL light.
