Default Carb to efi: How?

I wanted to know how hard it would be to convert a carbureted '79 5.0 to '87 EFI. I was thinking about building the '79 so that I can replace the 5.0 in my Merc Colony Park, however, I wanted to keep the car feul injected. In a nut shell, I want to know if it would be feasible to slap all of the newer equipment from the 87 on a rebuilt '79 5.0.

they'll all fit? If I'm rebuilding the '79 before installation, should I buy a rebuild kit for that year?

All of the EFI parts would swap over, all the way from the fuel pump up to the injectors to the computer. You'll want to spring for new lines though, the carburetor fuel lines won't handle the high pressure of the fuel injection and I'm not sure if I'd want used lines. But that's just me.

could I switch the heads over from the efi '87 to the carb '79? If so, what do I have to do? Will I have to get 79 or 87 head gaskets? Would I have to use '87 pistons if I used '87 heads?
