Default Leaking power steering fluid

hey guys my power steering pumps been screaming lately so i let it warm up and turned the wheel back an d forth and checked under the car and there is a small leak, im waiting for someone to wake up so they can turn the wheel while i look but is there a common/usual place that they leak that i can check it looks like its leaking right in front of the rack,but it doesnt seem to leak unless the pump is running, thanks guys

It could be either the hose (split or cracked) or it could be the port the hose is connected to (cracked). It could even be a loose or damaged cap that doesn't seal completely.

yeah im leaniny towards a hose sinces the leak isn't directly under the rack. ill check all those out thanks eagle.

alright i found the leak its in the rack coming from the boot on the passangers side im guess i need a whole new rack?

Unless the rack is growling, you don't need a new one but you need a new boot. Cut the old one off and then put a new boot on it. Just take the tie rod loose to get the new one on, then clamp it on, it should come with a new clamp.

I have the same exact problem but mine leaks for the driver side, i jacked up my car one day to get under it and it started puking out from the boot. the boot is cracked, is there a seal that can be replaced on the rack or does fluid sit in the boot. i must sound stupid.........thanks

could that be a reason for the loud noise when i turn though? i am going to throw a diffrent pump on there and try that but i cant really find any leaks i can get a new rack for cheap, that seems fairly easy to replace, and no you dont sound stupid cause im learning about it too, i just took a quick look for a kit or something i couldn't find anything but they probably have one

I have been looking on ebay and summit and dallas mustang for a new rack , and ebay has some used ones for like 80 bucks, where have you been looking? thanks

my buddy works for a speed shop, but i usually get my parts from cjponyparts, im getting a new rack, bushings, new pump, lines, and an ac eliminator bracket i've been wanting to get out my useless ac for a while, i figured if i gotta remove the tie rod for a new boot i might as well remove the whole rack it looks pretty worn anyway
