I ordered keith black domed pistons to get my compression to 10:1 with 63 cc heads and was told they would perform poorly....any one have this problem?
1979 mustang w/302
10:1 KB pistons
GT40X turbo swirl heads w/1.7 roller rockers
comp cam 230/236 dur. 520/523 lift
parker funnel web intake
750 holley dbl. pumper
race distributor and cdi w/super coil
long tube headers & flow masters 2.5" exhaust
elec. fan-fuel pump
2500-2800 stall converter
B&M street/strip kit and mega shifter
3.73 gears w/track lock
well it depends what the compression is with the pistons you had and it all depends on what you are looking to get out of the motor, and what method of intake you use such as NA, turboed, supercharged or whatever need more out of you to make any real decisions

May I ask what was the explanation given to say they would perform poorly?

I too would like to know why they wouldn't work? I can tell you they'd be fine, based on your parts list they'd work. You just need to be 100+% sure you have enough piston to valve clearance and that they work with the heads you have. Chances are they will, those heads are inline valves so they'd be fine.

"Do not buy pistons to get your 10:1. You'll have to go with a domed piston and they are not appropriate for your application. There are serious problems with flame propogation in a domed piston and they are only suitable in a forged piston, high RPM application IMO. To get your 10:1 you'll need to reduce the chamber on the heads to 55cc, use a .040 ish head gasket, and have a 0 dech block. This is assuming you get a piston with 6cc's in the valve reliefs. You may be able to find one with 4cc's and if you can then only take the heads to 57 cc's. "
