Default 1994 Mustang GT Looking for some power

I have a Black 94 Gt (auto) that i am looking to mod. I dont have a whole lot of money because of school so i am looking for some relatively cheap mods to my stang. Thanks!

Sounds like a gear swap is in order. Get some 3.73 or 4.10's. Also, you could do a cold air intake and advance your timing.

How much are you wanting to spend?

The first thing I would do in your position is a valve body/shift kit for your trans!!! That should be the first thing to do with an auto.
Once that is out of the way then some 4.10 rear end gears, CAI and/or pullies.

But definitely get that tranny shifting good and get the gears out of the way. You won't regret it.

K&N air filter, I don't know if '94s had an air sinlencer, I'm sure someone does, but if it does take it off!! Either 3.73s or 4.10s would also be a good upgrade, along with a shift kit

Yes the '94-'95's have air silencers. You could do some free mods like that to get a couple extra HP, like getting rid of the smog pump, A/C compressor and components, EGR system, advance timing, etc.
I don't have an auto trans but if I did, a shift kit would be the first thing I would do, because that auto can really drag you down.

Do Transgo HD2 shift kit and a 3.73 rear end swap as your first mods. You'll be amazed at the difference. There are other freebie mods you can do to gain some power until you save more money:

Remove air silencer
Remove MAF housing mesh screen
ASP underdrive crank pulley (not a freebie but only ~$40)
Bypass AC/smog pump with shorter belt (at same time as installing ASP pulley)
Advance timing to 14*

one of the cheapest things to do(free) is weigh reduction.....

less weight = better performance......

this info originally provided by eagleautosport...

If you want weight reduction ideas...

Front sway bar: 21 lbs
Front bumper: 24 lbs
Move battery to the trunk: 0 but moving a 50 lb box to the trunk improves traction
Replace steel hood with fiberglass hood: 15 lbs
Remove trunk/hatch carpet and sound deadener: 15 lbs
Remove tailpipes and install turn downs: 20 lbs
Remove rear seats and associated parts: 47 pounds
Remove front seats and replace with lightweight racing seats: 24 lbs
Replace steering rack with 1981 or older manual rack and remove power steering pump: 16 lbs
Remove rear sway bar: 14 lbs (racing only)
Replace front wheels & tires with lightweight skinnies: 32 lbs
Remove heater, stereo, speakers, under carpet padding, center console, misc. interior items: 63 lbs
Replace rear wheels & tires with lightweight wheels and slicks: 20 lbs
Remove spare tire & jack: 42 lbs
Remove exhaust from header collector back: 51 lbs (racing only)
Remove window mechanisms and side impact bracing within doors: 36 lbs
Replace iron heads with aluminum: 40 lbs
Replace radiator with aluminum: 15 lbs

Every hundred pounds is 1/10 or a second in the quarter - roughly one car length). It takes 10 horses to undercome every hundred pounds. You do the math. It is always cheaper for the car to diet than for you to add horses.

do both. underdrive pulleys add about 10-15 hp and are only about $80. As the others have stated get gears. You can get a set from summit racing for anywhere from $149 to $199. Ring and Pinion Gears - summitracing.com
They make a world of diffrence. Like driving a new car. With the auto tranny I would go with 4.10

a shift kit is going to help you more at wide open, a K&N will help all over with power, along with a cold air kit, you should take off the air silencer just because its free to do, how much money do you want to spend?

What alternators are on the 94's guys? I wouldn't do pulleys if they're still the ?70? amp ones that came on other 5.0s...
