Where to put the jackstands when replacing cat-back 1992 Mustang lx
I've heard that you aren't supposed to put them on the reax axle and I've read about subframe conncectors but I don't have them. Just need some help as to where to put them when I'm doing this. A picture would be much appreciated if anyone has one. Thanks

You can put the stands on the axle but when doing a cat back you will want the suspension at full separation so you have the most room. The best place to put them is under the lower torque boxes just in front of the lower control arms this will allow the rear axle/suspension to hang so you get the most working room.

That's where I put them, basically where the lower control arms bolt to. That way the rear end will come down, giving you more room to snake the old pipes out and the new in.

Yes, put them under the lower control arm torque boxes. I worry about that spot a bit, only because it's so flat and you could theoretically push the car off the stands, I imagine. Since I have sub-frame connectors, I put a pairs of stands under the rear-most part of them. Then, I can lower the axle. The photos below was taken while I was replacing the upper and lower control arms, but gives you an indication of what's involved in the cat-back snaking, as well.
