When you push the down button, can you hear the motor turning or nothing at all? If you hear the motor turning but the window is not moving, then the regulator is toast and you need to replace that. If you hear nothing at all, the motor is either shot or the wiring is and you'll have to trace it to find it. A 12V test light is a perfect addition to any tool box and comes in handy in cases like this.

If it is the latter scenario, pull the door panel and use the 12V test light to probe the wiring going to the motor to see if you have juice going to the motor. If you probe the plug connector at the motor and the test light lights up, then you have juice going to the motor but the motor is bad and needs to be replaced. If you have no juice going into the plug connector, start back tracking with the test light every foot or so until you find the break and repair it. Keep in mind, just inside the door panel up near where the wiring harness comes into the door, is a junction. The wiring in the door plugs into the main harness at this junction. Be sure to check the window motor wire on both sides of the junction for juice before making a decision on what to repair.

Remember, it is almost impossible for anyone, myself included, to diagnose a problem over the internet without seeing the car. My advice is simply that, advice based on years of experience. I don't want you or anyone taking my word as gospel. I am trying to give some direction as to what I think may be happening.
