I have a rattling under my car that I feel under my feet when I'm doing 25mph. I have 2 1/2in. Flowmaster w/o cats. The mechanic said it's normal because the pipes are too big. Is this true? If not, is there a soultion? It doesn't rattle when I am in park, only when I'm driving. Please help Thank you in advance

there should not be a rattleing under your car. most likely they installed the pipes to close to the floorboard. If by installing a 2-1/2" pipe would make the pipe too close to the floorboard, why would they install a 2-1/4" pipe with only 1/8 clearance to the floorboard. think about it. the 2.1/2" pipe has a 1-1/4" radius where the 2-1/4 has 1-1/8" radius. It just doesn't sound right to me.
did u get an aftermarket h pipe or did u just get a shop to weld you up a new exhaust? if u had a shop make you one they did it wrong. it shouldnt rub at all if its aftermarket, unless its not the right one for your car.

I got them aftermarket. Does the tranny move? I guess I should take it back to were I got them installed. I have had the exhause since last july and I really never thought about something being wrong until today.

I know exactly what you are talking about. What I did to fix it was to bend the hanger a little. You can also loosen up the exhaust from the headers and try to move the pipes closer together. It sound like you adjustment is only 1" off. The rattleing is comming from the pipe hitting the x member support brace. Your trans and engine wont flex that much. It sounds like you got a lazy mechanic on your hands!
Good luck!

Ohhh and one more thing to think of. The exhaust is connected to the engine. The engine is connected to the trans. The trans is connected to the car. So if the trans moves, the engine moves, the exhaust moves.
Every thing moves as a unit!

I'm not certain how it is on the Fox body, but on my SN95, I have the piping for the air injection to the cats that runs under my car. If that was not rigged up correctly that can easily rattle around. In an emissions state that should still be there, but if you are in another state perhaps that has all been removed???
