Default 1990 Saleen coolant temp gauge broken

I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to trobleshoot a broken temp gauge. I have already replaced the temp sensor at the intake does anyone else have an idea of what else to try I am keeping the car all original as it only has 3800 miles so an aftermarket gauge isnt an option at this point the gause stays all the way down and dosent move at all after the car is heated up so any help is appreciated. Thanks guys

How long are you letting it work up? I thought mine was not working because I could drive about 7 miles before it would rise then it would show that it was really warm. I just put a 180 thermosat and a aftermarket 140-280 degrees gauge in and it still did not come rise till after I made my 7 mile trip to work. With the hood up and the a/c on ideling it would not rise either.
