Default Which electric fan???

I have a stock 89 Gt 5 speed and have just fitted an aftermarket temp guage. The car runs way to hot for my liking, 200 while driving and up to 230 in traffic. I have a hypertec 180 tstat and have flushed the block and had the stock rad cleaned, but it is still running to warm. I am going to get a 3 core rad but want to upgrade from fan cluch to electric fan. As I am in the middle of the desert in Saudi Arabia I only have access to junkyard cars. I have not seen any MK VIII's, so what other cars had good electric fans that I could retro fit with relative ease? My stock guage was telling me it was running cool, if you love your stang guys, after market guages should be one of the first things you buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your help

Chris

Try a SN95 (94-later) Fan

I think a Crown Vic fan will also work ok.

Ok, no offense, but how did you install the temp sensor for the new gauge? If you do it wrong it will read high.

First, it has to go in the front of the intake or in the t-stat housing. The back of the intake doesn't get water circulation.

Second, don't use more than one adapter fitting. If you stack more than one fitting, you'll create a dead spot and pull the sensor out of the water flow.

As for fans, people have had good luck with the V6 Taurus fans also.

I installed the new temp sensor where the old one used to go, in the front left side of the inlet manifold. I only used one adaptor. I thought that the guage was reading high at first so I put in a seperate earth wire direct from the guage to the battery, This did make a little difference. Thanks for the tips 86Cobra, often the simple things get overlooked. I will look for a SN95,Crown Vic orTaurus this weekend.

Thanks for your help guys

Chris

I bought one of those FLEX-A-LITE fans built for 5.0 mustangs, You can hook it up with the temperature sensor that they include with the fan and also a manual switch to turn it on whenever you want. It also has a wire to hook into your AC clutch to engage the fan when you turn on the A/C. I also installed a Modine 3 core radiator, in 90 degree weather with the ac on I never get over the O in normal on the temp gauge. Im sure summit will ship you a part but it will be spendy!!!!
