Default rear main seal leak

I just purchased my mustang a few weeks ago. All gaskets were replaced, but I am dripping about 1 litre every two weeks out of the rear main seal.

Does anyone know whether the rear seal is a one piece, or two piece. Also, is it a tough job to replace?

Thanks Guys

One piece seal, pretty difficult to replace.
Can be done in the car, much easier to remove the engine. I just did one last weekend, so ask me what you want to know and I can help.
I can even help if you want to trek to Calgary.

Jarrett, who knows I may take you up on that offer since Calgary is only 2 1/2 hours away.

This weekend Im installing mac hedders, strut tower brace, and sub-frame connectors. Again thanks for pointing me out to WMSRacing.com, I'm really glad to know there is a place like that so close.

Anyways, I would love to come up to Calgary with the 5.0, but it probably won't be for a little while. By the way, do you run 1/4 miles at the local track, because I'm probably heading out to Capital Raceway when they first open up, so I can get an idea of how fast my car is, and how fast I want it to be.

Well thats all for now. Peace!

I usually run at Race City on Friday nights. $20 and run all night long, and it is only 10 minutes from my house.
Let me know how the install went on your headers, etc.
Those pieces will make it a little harder to install the rear main, not much though.
WMS and The Mustang Shop (no website ) are two good stores that are located really close to each other in Calgary. Either one can get what you want, or help with anythign you want to do.

I think removing the transmission, clutch, and flywheel would be the easiest way to replace the rear main seal. I did it myself and it was pretty straightforward.
