I was out doing burnouts last weekend on my road... well i burnt the clutch clean to the plate haha.... well the clutch wouldnt even engage anymore so .....
i bought a ford motorsports 10.5 heavy duty clutch from summit... came with clutch pressureplate and throwout like most kits.....also ordered a clutch cable adjuster kit
first let me say What a ***** to get the
tranny out... omg it took me and my dad bout 5 hours just to get the
tranny out.... damn H pipe.... ... BTW. what is that hose/pipe that runs down the passenger side next to the
tranny that hooks into the back 2 cats on the h pipe anyways??? that was a pain to remove ... so that we could back the h pipe out of the way...
anyways got the old clutch out and the part of the clutch towards the pressure plate was completely gone... but there was still a decent amount on the flywheel side..... My immediate question was... shall we change the flywheel while we have this all apart.... (my first
tranny removal besides my 92 probe... which was much different) my dad who has some experience thought it was fine and sanded it down with some very fine sand paper.... Was this an ok thing to do???
we then whiped down the new clutch and plate with brake clean like recommended by ford.... we also cleaned the inside of the belhouseing(where we also pulled out many pieces of frayed clutch from the ventalation holes.. hehe) also we whiped down the flywheel with the brake clean......
we got the new clutch in and bolted the
tranny in... then it started to rain so we had to call it a day......
If we did anything wrong or you have anysuggestions please let me know as we have not put it all back together yet.... just bolted the
tranny to the engine....
thanks for reading and comments are appreciated..
