hey guys does it really make a difference between the bassani x pipe and a few other brands, lets say bbk or hooker. I mean besides cost, but i want to know if i can pay for a $188 one and it does the same thing as the bassani $299 then its pointless to get the bassani. Any help would be great.
I think a lot of what the difference is in the brands is coating and name. My guess. I see absolutely no reason why you should pay that much for an X pipe as they all do mostly the same thing. Course if you buy a less expensive one you might see a shorter product life (rust, corrosion).

i think the major difference between BBK and Bassani is that the Bassani is available in stainless steel and the BBK is only aluminized. this means the Bassani will last you longer. i have the BBK and am happy with it but to be honest i rather have something stainless steel, just my preference.
I put a Bassani offroad X-pipe on and am very, very happy with the way it sounds and looks. I've put almost 25K on the X-pipe and it still shines good, and I've noticed that a full stainless exhaust system has a unique sound to it...
your choice, my money is with Bassani,
Ken

I have a Dr. Gas X pipe and love it. Internally its designed perhaps the best and is patented as such; however, since I don't have longtube headers I'm probably not getting the maximum benefit out of having it. Also, initially I was unhappy with the fact that I had to have it welded up because it came in about 5 pieces, plus the two highflow cats that I had to have to meet CA emissions. But having it custom welded allows some flexibility as to how the thing hangs under your car. Magnaflow now makes a very good cat'd X-pipe that I probably would consider since I'm running the shorty headers. If you are running long-tubes and don't mind getting it welded, then go with Dr. Gas. If you have shorty headers, go with Magnaflow O/R or cat'd X pipe.
Stainless is going to be a bigger issue on the catback portion of your exhaust especially if you run cats. The cats break down some of the pollutants and produce moisture. On my SUV, the chrome tips didn't last six months before they were rusted because of the cats. The muffler shop warned me. I've seen older noncat'd cars do fine with chrome and not polished stainless for exhaust tips in CA.
